What is Muse Image?

Muse Image is the first image generation model from Meta Superintelligence Labs, launched on July 7, 2026 alongside a preview of Muse Video. Instead of mapping a prompt straight to pixels, it works like an agent: it searches the web for factual grounding, uses tools, and refines its own output. It debuted near the top of the Arena human-preference leaderboard for text-to-image and image editing, and it can compose from multiple reference images — people, objects, styles and environments.

It also drew immediate controversy: Muse Image can draw on public Instagram content for social context, which sparked a privacy backlash within hours of launch. See our guide on stopping Meta from using your Instagram photos.

What about Muse Video?

Meta previewed Muse Video alongside Muse Image — built on the same pretraining base, with native audio support. It's "coming soon to creators" but has no public release date yet. We're tracking it: Muse Video — release date, features and what we know.

Muse Image FAQ

What is Muse Image?

Muse Image is the first image generation model from Meta Superintelligence Labs, launched July 7, 2026. It works agentically — searching the web and using tools to ground images in real-world facts — and ranks near the top of the Arena human-preference leaderboard for text-to-image and image editing.

Can I use Muse Image outside the US?

Not yet. Muse Image is US-only at launch (Meta AI app, meta.ai and Instagram Stories), with WhatsApp in limited countries. Meta says more regions are coming but has not given dates.

Does Muse Image have an API?

No. There is no public API, no weights and no third-party integration — Muse Image only runs inside Meta products with a Meta account. Any website claiming to offer "Muse Image online" is generating with a different model.

Is Muse Image free?

Yes, inside Meta products, subject to usage limits and regional availability.

Is YIX affiliated with Meta?

No. YIX is an independent multi-model AI image studio. We don’t offer Muse Image — nobody outside Meta can — but we run 12 of the best API-accessible models, including the closest alternatives.

Muse, Muse Image, Muse Video, Meta AI and Instagram are trademarks of Meta Platforms, Inc. YIX is an independent product and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Meta.
