ChatGPT Image to SVG Converter

Turn a finished ChatGPT image into editable SVG paths. Upload a PNG, JPG or WebP below, or create a new image with GPT Image 2.6 and send the result to the converter.

SVG preview

Your vector preview will appear here.

Best for logos, icons and flat illustrations. Photos, tiny text and gradients may lose detail. Images are traced at up to 768 pixels on the longest edge; the SVG paths scale, but tracing cannot recover missing detail.

Create an image with GPT Image 2.6

The same image generator as the homepage, with GPT Image 2.6 Flare selected by default. AI generation uses credits. PNG-to-SVG tracing is free and runs locally. This workflow traces a raster result; it does not use OpenAI’s native SVG endpoint.

GPT Image 2.6 Flare starts at 40 credits per generation. Sign in and add credits to create.

From a ChatGPT image to a downloadable SVG

  1. Upload your downloaded image, or generate a simple graphic below.
  2. Choose a color count and convert. Compare the original with the SVG preview.
  3. Download the SVG and inspect its paths in your vector editor before using it for print or cutting.

Why exported SVG can be broken

An .svg filename alone does not prove an image is a vector. Some exporters put a PNG or JPG inside an SVG image element: the file opens, but the artwork still becomes pixelated when enlarged. Missing linked files, unsupported effects and fonts can also change how a genuine SVG renders. This converter traces the visible pixels into paths instead of wrapping the original bitmap.

ChatGPT export SVG: common questions

Can ChatGPT export vector images?

The answer depends on the interface and output format. OpenAI’s November 2026 Images 2.6 release adds SVG output through its API. A PNG or JPG downloaded from a chat remains a raster image. Upload that file here to trace it into paths.

Does GPT Image 2.6 convert uploaded images directly to SVG?

OpenAI currently documents native SVG output for the text-to-image generations endpoint, not the image edits endpoint. This page uses browser tracing for uploaded images and generated PNGs, so you can compare and download the result.

Can I edit colors or use the result in Cricut?

The download contains editable colored paths. Open it in a vector editor to adjust fills. Before cutting, check closed contours, holes, overlapping paths and minimum feature sizes. A successful preview is not a guarantee of a cut-ready file.

Will tracing preserve my logo and text exactly?

No. Tracing approximates pixel edges and a limited color palette. Start with a large, clean image, then inspect lettering and small details. Keep the original and rebuild critical text or brand geometry when accuracy matters.

Is conversion free?

Local PNG, JPG and WebP tracing is free and requires no sign-in. Creating a new AI image uses the credit quote shown in the generator. Conversion does not spend additional AI credits.
