Muse Video: Release Date, Features, and What We Know So Far

When Meta Superintelligence Labs launched Muse Image on July 7, 2026, it also previewed a second model: Muse Video. Unlike Muse Image, you can't use it yet — Meta says it's "coming soon to creators and Meta AI." This post tracks everything confirmed so far, and we'll update it as news lands.

What Meta has confirmed

The official announcement is short on specifics, but these points are on record:

  • Shared foundation. Muse Video is built on the same pretraining base as Muse Image — Meta trained the image and video capability as one family, which typically means consistent visual style across both.
  • Visual fidelity is the pitch. Meta describes "exceptional visual fidelity" as the headline feature.
  • Native audio. Muse Video generates audio with the video — putting it in the same class as Google's Veo 3 and OpenAI's Sora 2 rather than the silent-clip generation of older models.
  • Rollout target. "Creators and Meta AI," suggesting an Instagram/Reels-first strategy rather than a standalone product.

What Meta has not said

  • A release date. "Coming soon" is the only timing language used.
  • Regions. If Muse Image is the template, expect a US-first rollout.
  • An API. Muse Image launched without one (details here), and there's no indication Muse Video will differ.
  • Clip length, resolution, pricing — none of it is public.

Reading the tea leaves

Two educated guesses, clearly labeled as such:

  1. Instagram is the launch surface. Muse Image shipped inside Instagram Stories on day one, and Muse Video is aimed at "creators." A Reels integration is the obvious play — Meta's advantage over Sora and Veo isn't the model, it's a billion-user distribution channel.
  2. Expect the same access walls. US-first, Meta account required, no API. If you want video generation you can actually build on or use worldwide, that market stays with the incumbents for now.

While you wait

If your workflow needs visuals today, the practical options are on the image side: see the Muse Image guide for what the family can do, and the alternatives you can use right now — including Nano Banana 2 and Seedream 5 Lite, both live in the Yix generator.

We'll update this post when Meta announces dates, regions or API access.
